Radiopharmaceuticals specialist corporations FutureChem(8,460 won ▼ 100 -1.17%) is joining hands with medical imaging artificial intelligence (AI) corporations Brightonix Imaging to develop PET image quantitative analysis technology that can diagnose Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease more objectively.

FutureChem said on the 25th that it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Brightonics Imaging to develop a PET-CT quantitative diagnosis solution for degenerative brain diseases and to pursue global commercialization.

PET is an examination that confirms in images the distribution of specific substances in the brain after administering a radiopharmaceutical. Currently, PET images often rely on clinicians' visual readings, which can lead to differences in interpretation depending on the reader's experience. The two corporations plan to quantify image information to improve the objectivity and consistency of readings.

The two corporations plan to load into Brightonics Imaging's AI software "BTXBrain" analysis functions specialized for PET images of FutureChem's radiopharmaceutical "Alzaview" for Alzheimer's diagnosis and "PDview" for Parkinson's diagnosis.

For Alzaview images, the software will automatically calculate the "Centiloid index," which indicates the degree of accumulation of beta-amyloid, a key pathological substance in Alzheimer's disease, and for PDview images, it will develop functions to quantitatively analyze dopamine transporter distribution and FP-CIT in the striatum.

The two corporations plan to build a diagnostic solution for degenerative brain diseases that combines radiopharmaceuticals and AI image analysis technology and to pursue global commercialization.
